Bernd & Hilla — wheel thrown stoneware by Bucky Ceramics, Brussels
Stoneware · Wheel thrown · 2023

Bernd & Hilla

A series of forms focused on subtle variations in shape and texture that arise from handcrafting — exploring the interplay between uniformity and individuality. Geometric shapes emerge from the clay: cylinders, cones, spheres — echoing industrial forms in an interplay of light and shadow.

Charles & Ray — sculptural ceramic vessels by Bucky Ceramics, Brussels
Stoneware · Mold · 2021

Charles & Ray

A visual story told through the arrangement of forms — contributing to a larger narrative. The juxtaposition of two differently shaped halves in a single vessel echoes the idea of harmony arising from contrasting elements. Inspired by Plato's Symposium: beauty and wholeness emerge when diverse forms come together.

Marcel — mold-cast stoneware breezeblocks by Bucky Ceramics, Brussels
Stoneware · Mold · 2022

Marcel

Experimenting with light and shadow, using strategic openings to create structural clarity and geometric precision. Variable breezeblocks are created by combining four half-moulds. The shape is inspired by a facade by architect Marcel Breuer — functional form as sculpture.

Sou — stacked ceramic totem by Bucky Ceramics, Brussels
Stoneware · Wheel thrown · 2024

Sou

Each piece in this assembly is both sculptural and practical, stacked to form a tall monolithic form reminiscent of a totem. Inspired by pale, ghostly figures from ancient sagas — beings shattered and reassembled — these stools, side tables and planters interlock with thoughtful alignment. A singular architectural statement, both haunting and harmonious.

Isamu — porcelain lamp by Bucky Ceramics, Brussels
Porcelain · 2024

Isamu — Delicate Illumination

Inspired by the poetic simplicity of traditional Japanese rice-paper lanterns — a contemporary translation in porcelain. Balancing between the fragile and the robust, light and dark, the artisanal and the industrial. White thrown porcelain breathes the lightness of rice paper; the black porcelain base offers earthly stability. A resting point in the room.

About

Where architecture meets clay

Bucky Ceramics is a Brussels-based studio where an architectural background meets the ancient craft of working with clay. Each piece is made by hand in small series — functional and sculptural, always at the intersection of design and art.

The work is shaped by a belief in the power of slowness and sensory experience. Material speaks for itself. Form and feeling take centre stage. Every piece arises from an intuitive process in which silence and presence are as important as the object itself.

Exhibited at MAD Brussels, Flanders DC and selected design events across Belgium, Bucky Ceramics works with collectors, interior designers and art lovers who seek objects with meaning.
